Actually, not really, I suppose. I only said that I wouldn't draw them next after that other picture. And there is a gap between that one and this one so...

I didn't break my word after all~ ;3

So um, yes, apparently I don't completely fail at backgrounds, but let's just say I'm not entirely happy with this one either. I mean, does anyone know how on Earth to draw a proper sun? I had no idea, and there was a serious lack of tutorials. Therefore, that was completely... drawn randomly. xD;

Secondly, I didn't actually use any tutorials for this piece of art. Isn't that cool? x3
(actually just means that I had no idea what the heck I was doing the whole time)

I actually kind of just scribbled the mountains, but they turned out okay, so I guess that's not really an issue. The fields in the back, I kind of just played around with until the (kind of?) passed for fields.
(I couldn't find a good reference for that either)

As for the clouds and grass in the front (aside from a few blades drawn by hand), well... I cheated and used brushes. x)

But honestly, I would've gone insane if I drew every bit of grass by hand, which would've resulted in a) my computer being busted as I smacked it with a rock, b) me going to the hospital with a severe case of carpal tunnel, or c) a very bad quality picture where I ended up with 'Kindergarten-esque spiky zigzags for grass.

So let's do the happy dance, because I used brushes and none of the above took place! =D

The two wolves themselves, I have to say, came a long way from where they began (namely... a very simplistic pencil sketch where only Lyreia had markings). Initially, I meant to do lineart with this piece (and I actually did draw out all the lineart nicely), when I turned off the lines and whoaaa~
Apparently it looked nicer without them. So I spent another three hours, maybe more, refining what I'd already coloured.
Go figure.

(note to self and others: Decide whether or not you're going to digitally paint something before you painstakingly spent hours doing lineart)

I did leave a few lines on this picture, which you can see on the paws and ribbons, but only to emphasize the shapes there. :nod:

And just to clarify, yes, this place actually exists.
...in my mind, of course. <3

Also, this is not the 'special' picture I was mentioning before. This picture is special, yes. <333
But the one I mentioned before, eheh... I've kinda put off for now. ^^; -shot'd-

(Yes, I know the lighting makes no sense in comparison to where the Sun is, but when I took it out, it looked really weird...) n_n;
So yes, bending the rules in fantasy~ ;3

I have to say that I had a LOT of fun drawing this picture, as long as it took me (all weekend + Friday!). I especially enjoyed staring at it in awe of skills I didn't know I had. xD

Alrighty, that's all I have to say for now~
Time to catch up on that homework I pushed aside to finish this, neh? :noes:

[editedit] Minor changes.
Removed the shadow on his head (which has been bothering me ever since I first uploaded this) and replaced it with a highlight. Changed the watermark. Lastly (and most importantly, since it was bugging me too), they don't stand out from the picture so much (a.k.a. pixelly edges).

I think that the sky and mountains came out really nicely. If you have problems with drawing sun or anything else it's always a good idea to find some photo refereces, I think :)

I think for suns, all you have to do is just a ball of light. xD
Since, that's pretty much what a sun is...

Heh, I tried that initially, but it looked a bit out of place, due to the amazing brightness and perfectly-shaped circular-ness of the Sun. XD

I have to agree that I really like how the mountains came out in this picture~
Yes, photo references help a lot. x3 I tried looking some up for this piece, but still had trouble trying to draw the brighter rays of light around the sun. ^^;
